I think that statement is true. I assume that it follows the rules of diffusion (when something in a liquid or gas moves from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration). It is kind of like putting a little bit of cool water into a tub of already hot water. The hot water transfers some of its heat to the cool water to even things out. This way, the hot water looses some of its heat and the cool water gains some so they both become the same temperature.
